Creating a “Contact Form” in EmailJS
While working on my personal portfolio I did some research on how can I create a form where someone can send me an email directly from my portfolio website. I wanted to make their experience as smooth as possible and also make it easier for myself to email them back after receiving an email. I think EmailJS was one of the best options out there to create an interactive and easy to use form. Everything is there for you as long as you use setup directions on the EmailJS website.
Before you can get started you will need to make your account, follow directions on the website and sign up for a new account.
Once you get started with your account, navigate to the Docs of EmailJS —
- Your first step will be to pick/create an email service, that will be a Transactional or Personal email service. The personal email service allows up to 200 emails a month which is a great choice for a personal portfolio website. After you pick the Personal email service you will be guided to connect yo your email service.
- Then you will be guided to creating an email template. This template is what you will see when someone sends you an email from your website to your email. There will be an email template already made for you but you can edit it any way you’d like.
- The next step will be to create an actual Contact Form in HTML so the content written in the form will be sent straight to your email.
In a few easy steps, you can create an amazing email form. If you are looking for something that may be easy to set up, EmailJS is the way to go. It took me nearly a few minutes to put it together and be able to test it. Let me know how it goes for you!
